Every once and awhile here at Outside the Boxscore, we like to post a heartwarming story and this one about USA swimmer Ryan Lochte is a pretty good one.
Over the weekend, Lochte won a gold-medal in 200-meter individual medley at the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Istanbul.
Instead of keeping for himself, Lochte gave the medal away to a young nine-year-old fan by the name of Arda Cakmak.
Here is a quote from Lochte regarding the moment courtesy of The Post Game via BBC Sport:
"I remember when as a kid I looked up to an Olympian superstar," Lochte said. "I won't mention his name [but] I asked for an autograph and he said 'no'. I told my parents that if I ever get in the same position, I'll do it."Below is a photo of the two that Lochte posted on his Twitter page:
